Dziga Vertov (Denis Arkad'evich Kaufman; 1895-1954) became known after his first film "The First Anniversary of the Revolution" (1918). But his real fame came after his experimental films Kino-Glaz and Chelovek s Kinoapparatom. His films and scripts are a significant part of what was called the soviet avant-garde.
