This collection of Robert Capa's work from 1932 to 1954 offers more than 900 images, half of which have never been published or exhibited before. Since its aim is to retrace the artist's life as a 'trajectory' (according to Cornell Capa), it is not divided in chapters but shows a succession of photographic stories depending on the altogether various contexts the artist found himself in. Portraits of Capa's well-known friends (Ernest Hemingway, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso) are thus to be found among those of anonymous soldiers in the photographer's famous war-images. But above all the collection renders the unity of tone in the photographer's focus on human beings: a definitive view on the persons and landmarks that made the 20th century.
