Bepi the fisherman immigrated from Yugoslavia 30 years ago; Li arrived only recently from China, and the local language and European people are one great big unknown for her. She works and pays off her debts, so that her eight-year-old son can join her. She finds a job in a café in a small fishing community. Thus develops an unlikely friendship that might just turn into something more. The film does not moralize, but merely captures different forms of the fear of the unknown.
